From the Principal
Thank you for visiting the
Hoddles
Creek Primary
School web site. I hope that your
visit provides you with useful information about our school and
strongly encourage you to contact me to arrange a personal tour
of the school, allowing you to see the strength of our
curriculum and our supportive school culture and climate in
action.
At Hoddles Creek Primary School
we aim to make your child’s school life a rewarding and
enjoyable time. We cater for individuals and understand that the
building of self esteem is essential for success. We encourage
you to enter into a partnership with our school community, where
our mutual concern is your child. By working together we can
ensure the best possible environment in which all children can
grow confidently, realise their full potential, share their
concerns and celebrate successes.
Hoddles Creek
Primary School is a unique school in
the Yarra Valley and due to its small size,
dedicated staff and school community offers a comprehensive
curriculum with the added benefit of individualising programs to
suit individual student needs. The school has specific focuses
on enhancing Literacy, Numeracy and Information Technology. We
provide curriculum programs that are dynamic, current and
student centred that match the quality of programs offered in
larger schools.
At Hoddles Creek we offer Maths, English, Health and Physical
Education (including a Perceptual Motor Program), Science,
Technology, LOTE (German), The Arts (art, music and drama) and
the Study of Society and the Environment. We enjoy an annual
swimming program at Healesville Pool. Our students take part in
many interschool sports competitions and our school Equestrian
Team competes at events throughout the year. Our choir performs
at local preschools and major events such as the Nongoma
Festival in 2007.
To help provide a smooth transition for Prep children we have a
buddy system where a Year 6 student is paired with your son or
daughter. Your child's buddy will assist your child in the
playground and with some classroom sessions, they will explain
things and be available in the playground to assist with the
location of facilities and provide an appropriate behaviour
model for your child.
At Hoddles Creek we are extremely proud of our students and the
caring, cooperative and collaborative learning culture that we
have developed within our school and community. On behalf of the
entire school community I encourage you consider our school and
invite you to become an equally important member of our learning
community.
I hope that our web site has answered some of your questions,
but you are invited to come and discuss any other issues or how
we can best meet the needs of your child. I look forward to you
visiting again and hope that you choose to join me in the shared
educational journey of your child.
