Transition Programs
Grade 6 Transition
Every year our Grade 6 students take part in special programs to prepare them for secondary school. Students from Hoddles Creek PS move on to both State and Independent schools in or close to the Yarra Valley. Representatives of these schools visit our school and tell us what their schools have to offer. Our Grade 6 students also take part in a number of sessions at school where their understandings and expectations of life at secondary school are discussed. At these sessions they are also discuss routines, timetables, organisation and other relevant aspects of secondary school. Students with special or specific needs are given the opportunity to take part in specially tailored transition activities when and where appropriate. This year, ORIENTATION DAY is Tuesday December 8th.
Kinder to Prep Transition
Every year Hoddles Creek PS runs a series of Prep Experience sessions. These sessions provide a great opportunity for Kinder students to try our programs, take part in class activities and meet other students and teachers. We generally run six sessions in Terms 3 and 4, with the last session being a full day. Parents are welcome to stay, and to come and have a cuppa and chat with the principal, members of the Parents Club and School Council and to meet our teaching and support staff. We are available to discuss any aspect of our school, including the curriculum, parent participation, student welfare, special programs or any other teaching and organisational matters.

Of course, we always welcome visitors for school tours and discussion about school programs.
Other Transition Programs
In Term 4 special transition activities take place for students moving from Grade 2 to Grade 3 and for students progressing from Grade 4 to Grade 5. These sessions include working with students and experiencing typical activities at the higher level.
